AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco is an American professional soccer player. She is captain and striker with the San Diego Wave FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team.She co-captained the United States women's national soccer team along with Carli Lloyd and Megan Rapinoe between 2018 until 2020. [8][9] Shortly after graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley, where she played for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. There, she made her debut in professional football and was a part of the team's success in winning the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time and the youngest player in the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. In the 123rd minute of the semi-final game against Canada at the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goals. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. It made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of Year and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan was also integral in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. She was selected for both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
