Initiated by her observation of shadows reflected in the earth and shadows on the ground, the artist spent months perfecting a technique to express objects with two dimensions onto canvas. When objects live or perishable, such as fruit and even people, they become a painting of them. Her ephemeral art style is apparent and the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade's art is a photographic image. Painting and photography are closely coordinated to create an unflattering two-dimensional space that is trompe l'oeil. In certain places, the third dimensions can be seen, for example, close to the eyes or in the hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3D space that surrounds the models.
